If I need someone to do the job for me, how much will it be to repair and paint a tennis court?-- Mayada, I believe a typical contractor price to resurface one tennis court in Miami is around $6,000.00 |

I am pouring a concrete exterior court and plan on using a fiber mesh reinforced concrete, after a 30 day curing and proper etching can I apply paint over the fuzzy finish? --- Andy, I am not sure what you mean by a fuzzy finsh, but 30 days is the minimum I would recommend for curing time. Also you put a medium broom finish on the concrete. Thanks for your question. Ed Broduer |

I have a question about cracks occuring on an existing tennis court. On this specific site, the cracks are occuring only along the painted white lines and along the line where the net sits. The remainder of the court remains in good condition. Any idea why this cracking would take place only along the painted lines? Do you think it may have anything to do with the temperature differential between the paint used for the lines and the asphalt surface? Is there a line paint which could have been used that would create this problem? Thank you. --- Meghan, The cracking along the lines is due to shrinkage of the extra coats of paint that intersect at that point. The first lines to show cracking are the doubles lines and the baselines. The inbounds and out-of-bounds coats usually overlap each other and the two coats of line paint add up to around 4 extra coats in this very small area. The other lines have 2 extra coats of paint in those areas. Heat is a factor, but only because of these extra layers of paint. I don't know of any paint that will prevent this. The crack between net posts is caused by the stress applied from the net pulling the post inward. Mark Montemayor

How many coats is recommended?---------- Luis, We recommend two coats for new concrete, and most previously coated courts. You should consider 3 coats for new asphalt, rough surfaces, and courts requiring a lot of patches. Thanks, Mark Montemayor |

I just had a cement slab poured for the court. Do I need to acid wash it or seal it before applying the finishing acrylic paint. Also, do I seal the acrylic paint when i am finished. Thank you. ------------Troy, you will need to acid wash the slab after it has cured 30 to 60 days. Use muriatic or phosphoric acid, mixed with 3 parts water to one part acid. Be sure flush the acid residue from the concrete, after letting it react for 5 minutes. Do not let the acid residue dry on the concrete. After the concrete has thoroughly dried, and when you are ready to start applying the color coatings, apply one coat of EnviroBond over the entire surface using a squeegee or paint roller. This is the tack or bond coat needed to help the 100% acrylic color coating stick to the court. You should apply the first coat of EnviroCoat color within 12 hours of applying the EnviroBond. Between enviropave and envirocoat, what would be considered more scuff and wear resistant? Also are the drying times the same? I plan to apply either to a couple coats of Envirocushion and also need them to be slip resistant, but it seems both are.. Thanks!---------------ANSWER: You are right. Both products are slip resistant. If you plan to have vehicles on the finished surface, or for that matter, bicycles and skate boards, you should stay away from any type of cushion. It is designed to be soft for comfort to the legs while play high impact sports. It will not hold up well under anything but foot traffic. EnviroCoat should be used with EnviroCushion. EnviroPave dries harder and tougher for surfaces having vehicle, and other forms of more aggressive traffic. Thanks for your question, Mark Montemayor

what product or products should I use and how should it be applied to fill in spalling areas of concrete on a concrete court. ------------- Colby, our DeepPatch is the best product for these areas. It dries stronger than concete, yet has enough flexibility to prevent it from cracking and breaking away. A steel trowel or drywall taping knife will work fine for smaller areas. You may need a straightedge for larger areas. Whatever you use, it should be straight, sharp, and wider than the area you are filling. This will allow you to make a smooth strike over the patch without digging into it with the edge of the tool. Mark Montemayor |

I'm planning on resurfacing my tennis court. Do I need to "precoat" the patched ares before painting? Is masking paper really necessary for the out of bounds area when any paint that I get on it will just be covered when I paint that area? ------Mark, You do not need to precoat any patches applied with our patching products. You do not need have to apply masking paper to coat the inbounds. Just make sure your inbounds coats cover the outside lines. You can then mask off for the out-of-bounds coats and cover any over-run of you inbounds coats. Thanks for your question, Mark Montemayor |

I am having a concrete slab poured for a tennis court. Should the contractor give the concrete a smooth finish? -------- No, you will need a medium broom finish. This will allow the acrylic coating to adhere well to the concrete.
